Coping with Illness
If I have never been to therapy before, what should I expect? How do I know if I should go, and how do I start?
You should expect to feel welcomed and encouraged in therapy. If the thought to consider therapy arose, it’s your wisdom letting you know it’s time to dedicate time for yourself.
You can start by sharing whatever feels true for you- you don’t need to intellectualize a clear reason and goal for therapy at the outset. A lot of time in therapy can be built around self discovery and clarity of the initial feelings that attracted you to therapy.
