Lindsay McGarril, LMHC

“I believe that the client is the expert on their life and that I am there as a guide or a facilitator to lead them to answers that they intrinsically, deep down, already know about themselves.”

I have extensive experience working with severe and persistent disorders like Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder. I also have experience with clients who have experienced traumas and those struggling with addictions to alcohol, substances, and eating disorders.

I work with people on a wide range of issues. The following are a few of my specialties (this list is not all-inclusive):

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Eating Disorders

  • Substance Use Disorders

  • Life transitions

  • Codependency

  • Relationship issues

If I have never been to therapy before, what should I expect? How do I know if I should go, and how do I start?

I would say something along the lines of, “There seems to be something going on in your life that is prompting you to consider receiving help, and this has led you here today to learn more about your options. Nothing can hurt if you try out something new and keep an open mind during the process. It can be scary or overwhelming, but just taking the first step and asking for help is more than half the battle.”
