Are there any philosophies or values that inform your work that I should know about?
We live in a society that presses us to keep going no matter what, but honestly, the world is not going to burn if we take time for ourselves. I believe we have to sit in the pain and confront our demons before we are able to find true peace. How do we reconcile with this past thing so that it does not show up in current relationships or circumstances? How do we shed old skin and forgive our past selves? How do we set boundaries without feeling guilty? How do we fight the stigma of seeking professional help for our mental health instead of the habitual tendency to either ignore it or “go to church and pray about?” We act out because we think it will bring us more relief, however, I think individuals play a major role in their own development and recovery if they can see beyond blame and pointing the finger at the other. The goal is to develop and strengthen a bravery to be able to relate to and sit within the uneasy feelings so that we are no longer afraid or controlled by it. This approach allows us to regain our power.
