Message from Rachel

Hi, I'm Rachel! I offer a compassionate, creative, and individualized approach to counseling that is collaborative and nonjudgmental. In my work, I blend elements of psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies in order to best serve you and your goals. When working with me, you will be supported in deepening your understanding of yourself and finding new ways to navigate life’s challenges. I am extremely passionate about working with clients of all genders, sexual orientations, bodies, abilities, races, religions, and cultural backgrounds. I received a MSEd. in Mental Health Counseling from Hunter College and a BA in Psychology and Gender Studies from The New School. In addition to my work as a Mental Health Counselor, I am also a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher and I enjoy spending my free time drinking iced coffee, listening to true crime podcasts, and writing music.

Get to Know Rachel

How will our relationship be different than relationships I have with friends/loved ones?

The relationship you have with your therapist is incredibly special because the focus of the work is you! Unlike other relationships, such as with friends, family members, or romantic partners, the relationship with your therapist is impartial, nonjudgmental, and can provide you with the space to express your thoughts, feelings, and ideas in an uncensored way.

How long should I commit to being in therapy, at least in the beginning?

I recommend committing to at least 12 weeks of consistent therapy in the beginning in order to get to know your therapist and begin to develop trust.

Where did you work before going into private practice?

Before working in private practice, I worked in a college counseling & wellness center and a medically-assisted treatment facility.
