Crisis Resources

If you are in crisis, do not use our service. The following resources are crisis management resources serving NYC.

  1. NYC Well is your connection to free, confidential crisis counseling, mental health and substance misuse support, information and referral. You can reach the toll-free helpline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by phone, text and online chat. Mental health professionals there can link you to the services you need. You can reach NYC Well by texting "WELL" to 651-73 or visiting their website. They can provide bilingual help in Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Additionally NYC Well offers translation services in more than 200 languages. Health insurance is not required. Depending on your phone/text services, you may be charged a fee.
     
  2. NYS Office of Mental Health. In an emergency, call 911, visit a Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), to go to the emergency room at your local hospital. New York State has partnered with Crisis Text Line, an anonymous texting service available 24/7. Text GOT5 to 741741.
     

  3. National Suicide Prevention Hotline. If you are in crisis and need immediate help, please call 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
     

  4. Domestic Violence. If you are someone you know is in a relationship being controlled by another individual through verbal, physical, or sexual abuse, please call: 1-800-942-6906.
     

  5. Referrals and resources for free and low-cost mental health and counseling services in and around New York City, provided by Women's Justice Now - National Organization for Women, NYC. These services and list of resources can be utilized by all, regardless of race, gender, ethnic background, or socioeconomic status.
