Message from Cynthia

The events of your life, whether pleasing or not, hold insight into who you are and, more importantly, who you want to be. I see the emotions and thoughts attached to these events as tools to be intensified or diminished as you see fit. I offer an open and judgement free space to sort through life's complexities. I use psychoeducation, skills and belief challenging dialogue to help you you see things differently. I want to hear your stories of pain and joy, success and heartbreak. Together, we can construct meaning to figure out what’s serving you and what isn’t.

Get to Know Cynthia

From your perspective, what is therapy?

Therapy is what you want it to be. It could be a time to unload - vent about your boss, partner, friend or family member in a safe space. It could be a time devoted to feeling feelings - acknowledge sadness, anxiety or anger so you can go through the rest of your week free from those emotional pulls. It could be a place to gain knowledge - find insight into why your life is the way it is, what you can and can't control and what you want to do about it. These are just a few examples but the decision is up to you. And, I'm prepared to meet you halfway with whatever you want to bring.

If I have never been to therapy before, what should I expect? How do I know if I should go, and how do I start?

Expect to feel seen and heard in a way you haven't before. Expect to start a relationship that is free from the dynamics and conditions that surround your personal relationships. You should go to therapy if you're curious about your life and what could make it better. You can start by calling me.

What led you to become a mental healthcare practitioner?

My own experience in psychotherapy.
