Message from Jeff

I specialize in traumatic grief, religious trauma, and psychedelic integration—not because I studied them, but because I've lived them. When my children died, I lost everything: my identity, my faith, my sense of purpose. My conservative Christian upbringing offered no comfort, leading to a spiritual crisis as devastating as the grief itself. My healing journey brought me to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, which transformed my life. In 2024, I graduated from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research program after experiencing the healing potential firsthand. I've been a licensed professional counselor in Texas for over 25 years and a counselor supervisor for over 10 years. I work with the bereaved navigating the unbearable weight of loss, ex-evangelicals wrestling with guilt and anger after leaving their faith, and individuals seeking to integrate profound psychedelic experiences. I offer a space where you don't have to explain why your grief feels "too big" or why you can't go back to church. I understand because I've sat where you're sitting. My approach draws on narrative therapy, existential therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, but my most powerful tool is lived experience. Healing doesn't mean forgetting—it means learning to carry your loss with grace and rebuild your life with authenticity.

"I cannot recommend Jeffery Jones highly enough. Our family suffered a traumatic loss of one of our children and within a few weeks we were meeting with Jeffery Jones weekly via video-call and it has been a lifesaver. Life is totally different after trauma and loss like we experienced and learning to navigate that new life feels perilous and hopeless. But having someone like Jeff, who has not only gained the academic education needed, but also has the life experience required to guide us in our new lives has been so valuable to us. Jeff is an expert at facilitating good communication between yourself and your family which brings about a much fuller and deeper understanding of your obstacles and gives the comfort of being much more prepared to handle life. Again, I cannot imagine facing life after our loss without the weekly anchor that is our session with Jeff."

"I cannot recommend Jeff more ! He is one of the therapists who is extremely professional and knowledgeable in the subject. Since my experience with Serenity , the emotional strength and my quality of life improved tremendously! Both in my personal and professional life , Jeff’s counseling was pivotal to make a remarkable difference ! I was skeptical about the whole therapy process and I am so glad that I chose Jeff which changed my perspective completely! For anyone who would like to improve their quality of life - I would highly recommend Jeff and Serenity !"

From your perspective, what is therapy?

Therapy is a space where you can bring your whole story without having to explain why your grief feels "too big" or why you can't go back to church. It's not about fixing you. You're not broken. It's about learning to carry your losses with grace, rebuild an authentic identity, and integrate profound experiences into a meaningful life. For me, therapy means sitting with someone in their darkest moment and saying, "I've been there too, and there is a way through." It's about hope, not because everything will be okay, but because you don't have to face it alone.

Are there any philosophies or values that inform your work that I should know about?

My approach is rooted in lived experience. When my children died, my conservative Christian faith offered no comfort—only platitudes. That spiritual crisis led me to explore psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, which transformed my understanding of healing. I graduated from CIIS Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies program in 2024 because I experienced the potential firsthand. I believe healing requires compassion, authenticity, and someone who truly understands. I also practice martial arts (since age 12) and understand the mind-body connection in healing trauma. My therapeutic foundation rests on this truth: the deepest wounds require a therapist who has walked the path themselves.

Where did you work before going into private practice?

Before private practice, I worked in various counseling settings for over 25 years. But my most important work happened outside the office: surviving the death of my children and the spiritual crisis that followed. That experience taught me more about grief, faith deconstruction, and healing than any job ever could. I became a counselor supervisor over 10 years ago and completed the CIIS Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies program in 2024. My practice today is built on the belief that lived experience (not just credentials) makes me effective with bereaved parents, ex-evangelicals, and those integrating psychedelic experiences.
