Message from Jonathan

I am a licensed clinical therapist with experience dealing with difficult life transitions, trauma, anxiety, and depression. These issues never exist in a vacuum, and almost always become entangled with each other, becoming overwhelming at times. You can expect transparency, authenticity, and empathy when meeting with me. I tend to use a personalized approach to therapy, using cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic modalities to focus on challenging negative core beliefs, while building positive and sustainable coping techniques. Therapy can be daunting, but it’s also a journey. I invite you to bring your strengths, challenges, hopes, and fears, and share them in a safe, empathic space while working with me.

How can you tell if I am benefiting from working with you?

You can usually tell based off of how you feel after each session. Therapy can sometimes be difficult work, but if you feel heard and that sessions go deeper as therapy progresses, that's a good sign that you're getting what you need from therapy.

If I have never been to therapy before, what should I expect? How do I know if I should go, and how do I start?

I always encourage coming as you are to therapy. Reaching out and scheduled that first session is the biggest step you could make towards creating positive change in your life. That said, not every therapist will be a good fit for you, and it's okay to speak with a few therapists before you find someone who you connect with.
