Verified background check
Hello, welcome! Deciding to begin therapy can always be an overwhelming experience, I'm so glad you were able to make it this far! My name is Yvonne (she/her). I’m a first-generation Latina therapist with a background in the arts. I've studied clinical social work at Fordham University with a focus on strengths-based care with a person-in-environment and social-justice lens. I've gained experience over the years working in psychiatric hospitals, crisis hotlines, child welfare, and private practice. I specialize in working with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship/dating issues, life transitions, and race-related stress. I’m a kink-friendly therapist and LGBTQ allied. Together we can explore which tools are the best for you to change your future: Therapy is a space for you to be yourself. You are in the driver’s seat of your healing journey. As your passenger in this journey my style is conversational, reflective, social justice oriented, and empathetic. Often, I will assign small tasks for you to do in between sessions to reinforce what we speak about during our time together. For more information on my therapy style and how I can help you, please schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. Currently in network with Cigna, Blue Cross, Beacon/NYSHIP, and United Healthcare *Note: I am only taking clients 18+ at this time*

Get to Know Yvonne
I do! I feel like it is important for you to take what you have learned in session and practice applying it to your daily life for reinforcement. The goal is for you to feel comfortable enough to apply these tools [such as challenging negative thoughts] on your own enough that it almost becomes second nature.
Come prepared with an open mind! While it can help to bring a topic to talk about, it isn't absolutely necessary. There have been times where I've had clients say they had nothing to talk about during session and then end up talking about an issue they had in the back of their mind. Otherwise, make sure you are in a quiet and private space so you can feel free to delve into session with minimal interruption.
