Gabrielle Schreyer-Hoffman, PhD

Message from Gabrielle

We all face destructive forces that can impede us from achieving our goals, having healthy relationships, and living authentically. In therapy you will work toward enhancing self-awareness and gaining insight into how past and present experiences impact your relationships, outlook, self-concept, and your way of thinking and being. Together, we will explore how to modify problematic patterns and bolster constructive patterns to improve your quality of life and relationships. Additionally, we will work on developing skills, techniques, and tools throughout therapy to reduce symptoms, breakout of problematic behaviors and thought processes. We will develop goals and take small steps toward them, which will lead to big changes overtime. Ultimately, treatment is aimed at helping you increase self-awareness, meet your goals, reduce your symptoms and lead a more authentic, fulfilling, and value driven life. My approach is direct, genuine, curious, and nonjudgmental. Using an evidence informed approach I tailor treatment to meet your unique needs and goals.

What is the best part of the work for you?

The best part of being a psychologist is developing genuine connections with my patients and aiding them in realizing and acting on their full potential.

Are there any philosophies or values that inform your work that I should know about?

Working collaboratively with patients is an integral aspect of my work with patients. By learning from the patient about their experiences, challenges and needs I am able to select an appropriate evidence informed treatment for them. I am transparent with my patients about my process and explain my decisions for utilizing a type of therapy or technique as I want my patients to understand my process and conceptualization, so when they leave therapy they have all the tools necessary to be successful on their own.

What is unique about the work you do, or how have you found your work to be different than your colleagues'?

I often see patients after they have not had success with previous providers and treatment modalities. I am apt at working with individuals struggling to find what they need in therapy. I work collaboratively with my patients to help identify their needs and goals and tailor my treatment approach to them.
