Message from Quinn

My practice encompasses a wide range of people. Some of my main areas of focus include those dealing with sex and trauma issues, entertainment professionals, adoptees, and youth. My role as a therapist is to help you parse out and discover things about yourself you may have hidden, ignored, or complicated. I have a wide variety of therapeutic backgrounds and find it is most successful to collaborate with clients and see what works for them as all individuals are different and respond better to certain approaches/treatments.

Get to Know Quinn

Where did you work before going into private practice?

I have had many jobs/careers in my lifetime. My first job was in retail and then I sold vacuum cleaners which was a really humbling and eye opening experience. I have spent over a decade working in education for public and private schools and did SAT tutoring and I also have had well over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry so relate to and understand the mercurial ups and downs creative people face working in the industry. I also have taught tennis and teaching is a big joy of mine but have found a home for the past several years counseling and having the work be more collaborative.

How can you tell if I am feeling stuck, unseen, or unheard?

I like checking in with my clients every session to see not only how they are doing in the moment but also discussing how the therapeutic process is for them. Feelings seen and heard is one of the most important qualities in the therapeutic relationship because if I'm missing you in some way it stunts our ability to grow and could even be traumatizing/retraumatizing. I like to begin and end sessions checking in to see how you are feeling and how the experience/process is for you to be make sure we are on the same page.

How much do you share about yourself during our time together and why?

I believe therapy is collaborative. The goal of therapy is to help you, the client become more aware and grow through developing healthy habits and thought patterns. Being transparent and also resonating with the client as the therapist can be very healing and therapeutic so as long as it is relevant to improving the therapist/client relationship I believe sharing can be beneficial. I am open to sharing about myself and welcome that participation.
