You are not alone in your struggle. You are not the only one with an inner voice telling you you’re not good enough or you are unlovable. It is a challenge to deal with nagging thoughts that always tell you to look out for the worst case scenario. These feelings and thoughts have a tendency to get in the way of the things that you want to be doing. You feel too exhausted and unmotivated to sign up for a new workout class, join a book club, take surfing lessons, or put yourself in a situation to make new friends. What would it feel like to not be bogged down by those uncomfortable thoughts and feelings? You would wake up and feel excited about your plans for the week. You would feel confident enough to try some new activities and take a risk. On a tough week you would be able to give yourself credit for what you DID do rather than beating yourself up. There will always be thoughts and feelings that cause distress in your life. I would never give false hope that they will just poof! disappear. Rather, our work together will focus on understanding those thoughts/feelings and learning how to manage them so they do not overwhelm you. Instead, you will be able to focus on your goals and appreciate your strength and resiliency. I am here to support you on this journey as your companion. Clients who work with me appreciate my warmth, down-to-earth nature, sense of humor, and ability to challenge them when needed. My approach is that there is no one size fits all type of therapy. I treat each person like the unique human that they are and tailor my services to fit their needs. . No matter where you are at in your journey there is always room for growth and a little extra support from a helpful therapist. I use a variety of approaches including ACT, CBT, mindfulness techniques, psychodynamic therapy, and person-centered therapy. I use strategies and tools from these different models to best suit my client’s needs. Kudos to you for taking the first (slightly scary) step towards helping yourself! It is no easy feat to acknowledge that something isn’t working and decide to do something about it. It takes strength, grit, and vulnerability to do so.
