Healing and movement towards well-being can sometimes feel like a long difficult process. I’ve been fortunate to work with and support many individuals through this process and I’m always grateful to have been given the opportunity to join them on their journeys. Through developing skills to cope with current struggles and moving through past distressing or traumatic experiences that feel like they might be preventing you from moving towards your own path of wellbeing, we can collaborate to make movement forward toward your healing. I’m a Clinical Social Worker who takes in integrative approach in therapy using both psychodynamic and somatic approaches. I am a Certified EMDR therapist, am trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) and the Trauma Center’s Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). I enjoy working with people who have had stressful, distressing or traumatic experiences throughout their lives which may have lead to having a tough time maintaining fulfilling relationships, questioning decisions, or low self worth among other things. I am committed to providing a space where you will feel able to be your authentic self.

There are so many things that I love about this work. I was originally drawn to this field because I love hearing people's stories, the variety of human experience is something that has always fascinated me. I also love thinking about the dynamics and underlying forces at play, learning about why people are the way they are. Ultimately seeing change is incredibly rewarding, the subtle and not so subtle shifts in people; witnessing how people become more intentional and comfortable with the way they live life and relate to others. It's an incredible experience doing this work. On top of it all, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to look at my daily agenda and see a list of people who I have authentic and deep relationships with.
I am a highly engaged therapist, there is a term that we use called: active listening. I work very hard to hear not only the narrative of your stories and experiences but also the underlying themes or patterns. I make room for you to explore whatever we are discussing during any given session but I also interject with questions, interpretations, or something that I may be noticing. I collaborate with you while intentionally not impinging on your autonomy.
I do not share that much about myself during sessions. I will only talk about myself if what I am saying is useful to you in some way. Therapy is for you, and I have found that the work is more useful when the focus remains on your subjective experience.
I generally do not assign formal homework, but depending on what is useful for you I may suggest trying meditation, journaling or even a reading. If we do talk about trying these, the aim is usually surrounding keeping our sessions 'alive' throughout the week and fostering a curiosity about yourself and what we are addressing during our time together.
