Message from Amanda

Sometimes the idea of talking with someone new about ourselves or sharing our personal issues can feel like a nerve-wracking process. Therapy is about taking it one session at a time and acknowledging when we take small steps towards our goals. A little bit more about me: I have extensive experience working with individuals facing everyday anxiety, general life challenges and worries, trauma, persistent mental health disorders, and addiction and substance use. My approach focuses on understanding the interaction between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while giving you tools to better regulate and cope with distress. We'll go through tools and techniques like self-nurturing, boundary setting, distress tolerance and empathetic listening so that you will get to know yourself better and navigate life’s difficulties with more confidence and ease. Reach out to book your free 15 min consult to share more about what brings you to therapy and to learn more about me and my work. I look forward to connecting and growing with you. Note: I'm currently in-network with Aetna, Anthem, BCBS, Empire BCBS, United, Cigna, Optum, Evernorth, and UMR. I currently am not in-network with Medicaid or Medicare plans.

Get to Know Amanda

How should I prepare for my first session with you?

When meeting for the first time, the first session will likely involve getting to know each other on a better level . This is so I have a good understanding of who the person I am working with is and vice versa. In trying to provide a space where someone feels safe to talk to me, I make sure clients feel heard in what they are saying and remain open-minded to the obstacles they are facing.

If I have never been to therapy before, what should I expect? How do I know if I should go, and how do I start?

First, therapy can look different to each person depending on what their needs and issues are so there is no “one size fits all”. With this said, in therapy we will discuss goals related to the problems the client is facing and how we can meet these over time. Therapy is also flexible, so our plan of approach can change and be adjusted to best help each person. Finally, therapy is not exclusive to certain individuals, it is for everyone. If you are wondering if you should start therapy, an easy way to navigate this process is taking the first step and connecting with someone.

What is the best part of the work for you?

The best part of this work is helping others recognize the human parts of us. It can be challenging to open up to someone new and feeling emotions in front of them. Achieving this with clients makes this profession fulfilling and leads me to continue connecting with others

What led you to become a mental healthcare practitioner?

Mental health in general can impact every single individual and all parts of our daily lives. Personally, I have seen how getting support from a therapist has beneficially helped me and other people in my life. For me, I would also like to be able to help others in this way in order to find their best self.
