From your perspective, what is therapy?

I believe that therapy is a supportive and empathic environment where individuals can view life from a different perspective. It's a journey to understand oneself and our relationship with the outside world. Therapy teaches us the skills to cope with stress, process traumatic events, restructure maladaptive thinking patterns, and engage in self-fulfillment in an effort to reach our goals and attain our ideal self.

How participatory are you during sessions?

I believe that therapy is very much a participatory and collaborative experience. However, every individual walks in to therapy with unique circumstances, backgrounds, and needs that are relevant to that person. My goal is to ensure that timely feedback is relayed when appropriate, as well as providing the opportunity to vent frustrations and feel validated with an empathic ear. During therapy, I will ensure that an appropriate treatment plan is established that will allow for greater insight into your situation, producing effective results.

How will our relationship be different than relationships I have with friends/loved ones?

I strive to provide an environment where clients feel safe to express anything that may be troubling them including topics that they feel may elicit judgement from others. Importantly, I believe that significant change is made when there is honesty, openness, and trust between therapist and client.
