Message from Demi

Welcome! My name is Demi (she/her), and I’m a therapist who believes that you are the expert of your own life and experiences. Healing is unique to each individual, and there's no "one size fits all" approach. My goal is to support you in a client-centered way to take meaningful steps toward thriving. No one’s mental health exists in a vacuum. I believe in the power of conversations around privilege, race, power, and oppression as these impact our identities. Having a safe space to process and reflect on these experiences and emotions can make all the difference in treatment. My warm, humorous, empathetic, and engaging nature is dedicated to providing this safe space so that together we can create connection, discuss new perspectives, navigate trauma, and encourage self-love and acceptance for you and your inner child. Together, we will develop skills and tools to address burnout, anxiety, depression, trauma, workplace/personal stress, relationship challenges, or if you’re simply feeling unsure or stuck. Based on your preferences, needs, and strengths, I will tailor our work to address obstacles to healing, such as fear of commitment, sexual fear, attachment issues, codependency, self-esteem, social issues, loss of identity, trauma triggers, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, and much more. It would be an honor to support you, and I look forward to meeting you! If the above resonates with you, schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me to get started on your healing journey. I am in-network with most Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, and United/Optum plans. Please note, I am not in-network with Medicaid/Medicare plans at this time.

Get to Know Demi

Do you assign homework, activities, or readings for me to do between sessions? Why or why not?

This 100% depends on your preference! Each client is different: some people love homework / readings and others don't enjoy it. Either way – there's no right or wrong answer. While journaling and emotion logs can offer new insights, I understand this is not for everyone and am supportive of meeting you where you're at.

Are there any philosophies or values that inform your work that I should know about?

As an AAPI woman born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii; the concept of community and collectivism is an important value of mine and shows up in my work with clients. Finding and belonging to meaningful community, especially in the hustle and bustle of New York City, can be pivotal in healing and support. Additional values that also guide my practice include empathy, non-judgment, social justice, integrity, compassion, commitment to excellence, and alliance.

How should I prepare for my first session with you?

Relax and be your authentic self! For our first session together, we'll review how therapy works at My Wellbeing, assess preferences, discuss scheduling, and gather past experiences with therapy if you've received treatment in the past. I'll be inquiring about your strengths, needs, and what lead you to seek treatment here / your expectations of therapy.
