Get to Know Julia

Do you have experience (5-10 years+) working with any types of obstacles or people in particular?

I have over 10 years of experience supporting clients through a wide range of relationship and communication challenges. Much of my work focuses on helping individuals identify patterns that are no longer serving them, build stronger boundaries, and communicate their needs more clearly—whether in romantic relationships, friendships, family dynamics, or the workplace. For example, I’ve worked with clients who felt overwhelmed by constantly putting others’ needs ahead of their own. Through therapy, we explored the roots of people-pleasing behaviors, practiced setting boundaries in small, manageable ways, and developed tools for navigating guilt and anxiety that can come up in the process. Over time, these clients reported feeling more empowered, respected, and emotionally grounded in their relationships. My goal is to create a space where you can explore these dynamics openly and begin to shift them with clarity and confidence.

How participatory are you during sessions?

I take an active, collaborative approach to therapy. While I provide space for you to reflect and explore, I also offer observations, ask thoughtful questions, and introduce tools that support your goals. My style is engaged and responsive—not passive—because I believe therapy works best as a dialogue, not a monologue.

If I have never been to therapy before, what should I expect? How do I know if I should go, and how do I start?

Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, struggling with relationships, or seeking increased fulfillment in your day-to-day, therapy can help you. Your interest in being here is the only requirement to getting started! Our sessions will start where you feel comfortable and move forward in a collaborative process that includes reflection, problem solving, and goal setting. We generally meet once a week for 45 minutes. If you are up for it, I will ask you to journal or take notes throughout the week so that we are getting the most out of our sessions together.

How will our relationship be different than relationships I have with friends/loved ones?

The therapeutic relationship is unique, and unlike the relationships you may have with friends, family, colleagues or acquaintances. The foundation of our relationship is built on total acceptance, openness and non-judgement. My hope is that we will build a strong, trusting alliance where you will ultimately feel safe and comfortable sharing and exploring yourself with me.

What led you to become a mental healthcare practitioner?

Therapy has always played an important role in my life, but I did not immediately recognize my professional desire to become a therapist. I pursued a career in finance after graduating from Cornell University, working in the intense, high-stress world of stock trading. What I lacked in passion for the markets I made up for in strong interpersonal skills and a fascination with human behavior, motivation, and relationships. In time, I recognized that my ability to understand and help other young professionals in the workplace was more than just a useful business skill — it was the foundation for a dynamic clinical practice. I am passionate about using my own experience to guide young adults who are navigating life changes in this complicated, modern world.
