Message from Julie

I am a Mental Health Counselor based in NYC. In my time as a therapist, I have worked closely with adolescents and adults struggling to cope with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions. I also have experience working with individuals with mood, personality, and substance use disorders. I have provided care in both outpatient and residential settings, collaborating with a diverse client base and utilizing evidence-based and compassionate care. I am committed to approaching each therapeutic relationship with a trauma-informed, nonjudgmental, and affirming perspective. My goal is to create a safe, yet brave space for you to explore, reflect, and grow. I will collaborate with you to identify your strengths which will help you work towards and achieve your short- and long-term goals aligned with a life worth living. I implement mindfulness concepts and techniques to support clients in practicing acceptance and non-judgment towards themselves. I have extensive training in the modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy which I use to inform treatment based on your specific needs. Additionally, I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy to treat PTSD. Please reach out if you feel we may be a good fit. I look forward to connecting with you and being a part of your mental health journey!

Get to Know Julie

How do you approach diversity in the room or working with clients who may come from a different background than you?

I am committed to ongoing learning of backgrounds that are different from mine so that you don't have to do all the work of teaching me! I may not fully understand what it is to live with your identities, but I will always validate and empathize with your experiences. Outside of time with clients, I participate in frequent trainings related to social justice issues such as LGBTQIA+ and race-based stress.

What led you to become a mental healthcare practitioner?

I became a mental health counselor after working for several years in the hospitality industry and wanting to do even more for people! I was inspired to become a clinician after my own personal journey navigating the mental healthcare system alongside my family. I feel it is important to advocate for necessary changes to the system while at the same time offer quality care that is accessible. I can firsthand understand and validate the challenges that go along with seeking treatment and hope to continue be a part of systemic change.
