Get to Know Lauren

What degrees do you have and what techniques are you trained in?

I earned my Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University. I am trained in a variety of evidence-based treatments, such as Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Complicated Grief, and Motivational Interviewing.

What is the best part of the work for you?

One of the most valuable aspects of my therapeutic approach is being authentic and genuine in sessions. I believe that when I bring my true self into our work together, it fosters a more open and honest environment. By being real and transparent, I create a space where clients feel more comfortable sharing their own thoughts and feelings. This authenticity helps build trust and rapport, making it easier for clients to engage deeply in the therapeutic process. My aim is to model openness and vulnerability, which can encourage clients to explore their own emotions and experiences more freely and effectively.

How participatory are you during sessions?

I take a very participatory approach in sessions. While I provide a space for clients to express themselves freely, I also actively engage in the conversation, offering insights, feedback, and guidance. My goal is to create a collaborative environment where we work together to explore challenges, identify solutions, and foster growth. Depending on the client’s needs, I may ask thought-provoking questions, offer coping strategies, or help explore deeper emotions and patterns. It's important to me that sessions are dynamic and tailored to each person’s unique situation.
