Message from Mira

You don’t have to carry everything on your own. I support adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, chronic illness, and women’s health concerns. Many of my clients are high-achievers or perfectionists who seem confident on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain on the inside. My goal is to create a compassionate, collaborative space where you feel understood, supported, and equipped to make meaningful change. In our work together, I draw on evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT skills, EMDR, and psychodynamic therapy, always tailoring sessions to your needs and goals. I also bring deep experience supporting clients living with or adjusting to chronic illness, helping them navigate both the emotional and relational impact of long-term health conditions. What makes me unique is the way I combine genuine warmth with a practical, growth-oriented approach. My focus is on helping you build resilience, deepen self-understanding, and create meaningful shifts that last beyond the therapy room.

What degrees do you have and what techniques are you trained in?

I earned my undergraduate degree in Child and Adolescent Mental Health from New York University, followed by my Master’s in Social Work (MSW) at NYU. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in New York State. In addition to my academic training, I have completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, psychodynamic therapy, and trauma-informed care.

Where did you work before going into private practice?

Before moving into private practice, I worked across a variety of settings that shaped the way I practice today. I supported children and families in pediatric oncology as a child life specialist, created and taught social-emotional learning programs in schools, and provided therapy in outpatient practices with adults and teens navigating anxiety, depression, and trauma. I also worked with the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), where I gained specialized experience supporting individuals struggling with eating disorders and body image concerns. I also come to this work as a former artist, which continues to influence my style as a therapist. I enjoy weaving creativity into sessions, whether through art and self-expression or by designing personalized, outside-the-box interventions like grounding strategies or behavioral charts. Clients often share that they value the way I combine warmth, creativity, and problem-solving to help them grow in ways that feel both supportive and practical.

If I have never been to therapy before, what should I expect? How do I know if I should go, and how do I start?

Starting therapy for the first time can feel intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other, talking about what brings you in, and setting some goals together—you don’t need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say. Therapy is simply a safe space for you to share what’s on your mind and begin exploring new ways forward. You might consider therapy if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, down, or noticing patterns in your life or relationships that you’d like to change. Some people start because of a big life transition, others because of ongoing stress, and others because they simply want support in understanding themselves better. To get started, all you need to do is reach out. I’ll guide you through the process step by step so you feel supported from the very beginning.

What is unique about the work you do, or how have you found your work to be different than your colleagues'?

What makes my work unique is the way I blend a trauma-informed foundation with creativity and flexibility in how I approach each client. I draw from EMDR and other evidence-based therapies, but I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model. Clients often share that our work feels both supportive and energizing, giving them fresh perspectives and practical tools for lasting change.

Are there any philosophies or values that inform your work that I should know about?

I believe therapy is most powerful when it feels collaborative and tailored to you. My style is warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed, and I focus on creating a safe space where you can explore at your own pace. I draw from evidence-based approaches like CBT, EMDR, DBT skills, and psychodynamic therapy, always integrating them in a way that fits your unique needs. I also value creativity and flexibility in the process, which means I’ll meet you where you are while helping you discover new paths toward healing and growth.
