Message from Victoria

I offer quality psychotherapy with a unique blend of cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic approaches to help define and explore your problems, both on the surface and those rooted deeply in your past experiences and unconscious mind. I aim to help you clarify and set your goals, understand the underlying patterns that influence your thoughts and behaviors, and stay on course to achieve them. Through this process, you can expect to develop a deeper understanding of yourself, leading to improved mental health and a more fulfilling life. In our sessions, you can expect to feel heard and understood as we explore both the immediate issues and the deeper, unconscious patterns that shape your experiences. This journey will help you become less anxious, happier, more motivated, and more capable of accomplishing the tasks you set your mind to. You can expect consistent, professional therapy from a dedicated therapist who integrates cognitive techniques with a deep exploration of your emotional world to support and guide you. My mission is to improve your life and mental health through positive, goal-oriented psychotherapy that also values the depths of your psyche. As your therapist, I will be a listener, facilitator, adviser, motivator, teacher, and guide through the inner workings of your mind. While I tailor my approach to your specific needs, my primary theoretical orientations are cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy, blending the best of both worlds to provide a comprehensive and effective therapeutic experience.

Is there ever a time when you would encourage me to leave or graduate? Or how do I know when it's time to end or move on, or time to stay and explore more?

100%!! While it's often hard for me to part with clients, I cherish knowing that I helped them. Clients come to me feeling stuck and disempowered and leave feeling strong and equipped to face the world. At the beginning, I typically meet with clients once a week (twice for some clients depending on their needs). As time goes by, we'll be processing memories, addressing worries and fears, and equipping your mental health toolkit. As you get better, I will suggest that we experiment by meeting every other week. From there we will wean down to once a month. If a client says they're not ready to wind down, I don't push it. When a client graduates, I tell them that I will be available for refresher sessions or if they want to return to therapy for a while. People and problems change. It's ok to go back to therapy to work on new challenges.

How participatory are you during sessions?

How participatory I am during the sessions depends on the specific needs of my clients. In general, I am engaged in dialogue with my clients especially if we're working on coping skills and communication skills. However, oftentimes, my clients just benefit from being heard. On those occasions, I participate only to ask for clarification on something or to validate my client. I will challenge my clients at times when I notice that their thinking is unhelpful for their growth.
