Ashlyne Mullen, PsyD

Message from Ashlyne

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist based in NYC, working with teens, adults, older adults, and couples. My practice focuses on helping clients navigate anxiety, trauma, chronic illness, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I aim to create a collaborative, supportive space where we work together towards meaningful change, greater clarity, and stronger coping tools. In addition to individual therapy, I also offer comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, including ADHD assessments, learning disability evaluations, executive functioning assessments, and psychoeducational testing for school or work accommodations. I work closely with families, schools, and other providers to ensure that assessment results are clear, useful, and tailored to each individual’s needs. Whether you’re looking for therapy, testing, or both, my goal is to help you better understand yourself and feel more empowered in your daily life.

"I worked with Dr. Mullen at the Brooklyn VA for several years. She is extremely caring, compassionate, and patient. She has the unique ability to provide her patients with both insight into where their concerns stem from and practical skills. I am confident patients will feel understood and productive when working with Dr. Mullen."

Alexandra Lamm, PhD, Colleague

Where did you work before going into private practice?

I worked at a VA hospital providing services for veterans suffering from PTSD, chronic pain, and substance/alcohol issues. I also worked with veterans and their families to cope with chronic illness, dementia, and death and dying. Before that I worked at various college counseling centers working with young adults struggling with anxiety and depression.

What is unique about the work you do, or how have you found your work to be different than your colleagues'?

I work from an empathetic approach to provide a safe place for my clients to explore their own narrative and progress toward a more fulfilling life. It is important for me to learn how culture and history have impacted my clients today. With this understanding, I incorporate evidence-based treatment to work toward a purpose-driven life while staying open to whatever life throws your way. By the end of therapy, my goal is for clients to have a better quality of life, a stronger sense of self, and greater psychological flexibility.
