Message from Tyler

I view therapy as a dynamic, collaborative, and conversational process in which it is my role to listen closely, ask deep questions, and offer direct, usable observations. I specialize in working with high-achieving professionals, LGBTQ+ adults, and those drawn to deeper self-exploration, including other therapists. Using a relational psychoanalytic approach to treatment, I can help you identify self-limiting patterns of behavior, untangle emotional knots, and take concrete steps toward a more authentic, meaningful life. Therapy with me is both challenging and rewarding, offering not only short-term relief and coping strategies but a longer-lasting, deeper transformation.

What are your policies and practices around insurance?

I don't accept insurance. For many, many reasons. BUT… it turns out that most insurance companies provide reimbursement up to a certain percentage (~30-70% depending on your specific plan) for “out-of-network” providers. Adjusting for this reimbursement… the cost of therapy might range from $90 - $210 per session, depending on your coverage. So that they can take advantage of this cost-saving option, I provide all my patients with monthly invoices (“superbills”). Submitting these to your insurance company is relatively easy and can often dramatically reduce the cost of treatment. If that sounds difficult, please know that I’ll coach you on the process of reaching out to your insurance provider to ask about whether your specific plan includes “out-of-network” mental health benefits and - if so - how to use them.

How should I prepare for my first session with you?

First, let's schedule a brief (20 - 30 minute) call to talk about your needs and my practice to see if it looks like we might be a good "fit." Once we're on the phone, I'll also walk you through how to complete my standard intake + consent forms, as well as logging on to my secure client portal and telehealth video session platform.
