Get to Know Lexi

"Lexi was supportive and energetic from the start. I knew from my initial phone consultation that this was going to be something I was happy to be a part of. It felt great to talk through my emotions and gain perspective. I felt I was equipped with new coping skills and helpful mechanisms in managing my emotions. Lexi is the best and anyone who works with her is very lucky!"

Ashley Goetz, Client

"Working with Lexi was a wonderful experience! It was clear she cared about every individual she spoke with. She would always go above and beyond to make sure she provided resources that would best benefit the client. Lexi was always compassionate and a great listener. "

Katie Roberts, Colleague

"Lexi truly did a great job in creating a healing environment that I know changed my life forever. She taught me the process of healing, growth, and most importantly self love. I can’t thank you enough Lexi for helping me in my journey and my recovery process. I know you will touch and change many lives just like you did mine, and that’s something I will always be grateful. "

Andrea Young, Client

How should I prepare for my first session with you?

I will ask you what led you to therapy in this moment in time, and we will go from there!

What is unique about the work you do, or how have you found your work to be different than your colleagues'?

I am always looking to find the best in my clients and to understand the hardships that may be impacting them during that particular moment in time. I also like to be transparent in my work with a client. For example, if I am taking notes, I will let the client know what I found significant to note and why. If I ask the client a question, I want them to know the reason for my asking. When there is transparency, we are able to better work together.

How can you tell if I am feeling stuck, unseen, or unheard?

This is something I want to make sure I am repeating in every session. If at any moment you think I am focusing on an event in your life that you feel is not impacting you as much as I think it is, I want you to feel comfortable to speak up. These sessions are for your benefit. By continuously checking in and making sure I am understanding you and bringing up what you feel deserves attention in the session, we can create a space where you always feel seen and heard.

Where did you work before going into private practice?

I worked for The 14th Street Y running a Retirement Support Group and worked individually with a client with hoarding disorder. I also interned at NYU Langone Medical Center in their Adult In-patient Medicine unit where I worked with individuals and their families to create a safe discharge place. During this time I volunteered in the Victim Services Program at Mount Sinai Beth Israel where I worked with victims/survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence in the emergency room. Recently, I started a virtual breakup peer support group for individuals that identify as female. This variety of experience has allowed me to meet with a diversity of clients that I loved working with.

How participatory are you during sessions?

I like to spend a lot of time getting to know you and your thought process. I will want to spend many sessions listening to you. If there is a long period of silence, this may be something I bring to your attention to explore the reasons behind that silence. I will always be attentive in the room and aware of how our session is flowing.
