Message from Zoe

I help clients that are feeling overwhelmed by changes or feeling stuck in a situation gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the problem so that they can make changes and experience greater satisfaction in their lives. I work with clients on a range of issues including managing stress, anxiety, depression, family relationships, friendships and dating as well as educational and career goals. I combine strategies from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, psychodynamic treatment and mindfulness. My communication style is based on my belief in using honesty and humor to engage clients. I often describe myself as a cross between a cheerleader and a drill sergeant. I have worked in a variety of settings from non-profit organizations to hospital based mental health clinics helping people struggling with anxiety and depression due to life stressors and trauma. I am a bilingual, bicultural, English-Spanish speaking therapist. I also practice spiritually informed psychotherapy with clients who believe that is appropriate for them. My background has made me acutely aware of the stresses related to immigration, cultural, language and generational gaps. It brings me joy to be able to help my clients move from just surviving to thriving in their lives.

Do you assign homework, activities, or readings for me to do between sessions? Why or why not?

I assign homework, activities and readings so that the client can practice the skills we discussed during the session on their own because improving your mental health requires re-training your brain in the same way we train our bodies for physical fitness and that has to happen more than one time per week
