Where did you work before going into private practice?

Prior to going into private practice I worked as a resource specialist, worked in many evidenced based community programs for children and families. I also have worked as a Dean in schools and worked as an in- home therapist for individuals and families in crisis.

What is the best part of the work for you?

The best part of the work is the collaborative process, helping individuals, building relationships and aspiring others to make progres and/or change.

What led you to become a mental healthcare practitioner?

What led me to become a mental health practitioner is my many years of working in the communities providing resources. I then realized that the impact on the individual stems from many facets and the need to hone in on the individual and ensuring support. There are many disparities when it comes to mental health and I want to be able to impact others while helping them become confident in themself through the process.

What is unique about the work you do, or how have you found your work to be different than your colleagues'?

What makes my work unique is my passion behind the work that I do and the detail that I put into my work . I am committed to assisting you in which ever way possible and troubleshooting ideas. I have made lasting impressions with individuals because of the growth that they made.

How will our relationship be different than relationships I have with friends/loved ones?

Our relationship willbe different because it is aprofessional relationship with boundaries but yet inviting enough where you can share your concerns. I will support you, guide you and assist you through difficult times and establist a rapport that is therapeutic for you.

How much do you share about yourself during our time together and why?

I share enough about myself to make you feel comfortable. It all depends on the topic at hand and assessing whether its applicable to your progress.

What degrees do you have and what techniques are you trained in?

I have my Masters in Social Work with a concentration in group work. I am trained in Family Functional Therapy, Multi systemic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Trauma informed yoga practices as well as restorative and culturally appropriate practices.

How participatory are you during sessions?

I am very participatory in sessions, only to help guide you. This may look like both verbal and nonverbal cues to guide us through our session together.
