Message from Maja

I'm Maja ("maya") Nuoffer and I'm a licensed therapist with a decade of clinical experience, providing solution-focused counseling and in-depth psychotherapy. I help you manage and overcome anxiety, stress and burnout and those what-the-hell-am-I-doing-with-my-life?! existential and spiritual crises. As a psychotherapist, coupled with my certifications as a health coach and yoga teacher, I provide a holistic approach to mental health that includes understanding the powerful mind-body connection. I incorporate nature-inspired and positive psychotherapy into my work to give you concrete tools to make strengths-based, attainable and timely choices that lead you out of discomfort and fear and into wellness. If this resonates with you, I welcome you to contact me here, or on my website at www.natureofselfcare.com

Get to Know Maja

"Maja is one of the most kind, grounded and positive people I know. Her care and concern for the human race is evident in the approach to her work and her life outside of it. We have worked together in various capacities over the years as colleagues and I have sent her many referrals. Anyone who works with her is in very good hands and is lucky to receive her therapeutic brilliance, listening, insight and care."

Molly L., Colleague

"I have worked with Maja on numerous occasions - on committees and groups, as well as working together with mutual clients - over the past decade. I recommend her with no reservations. Maja is empathic, thoughtful, caring, and brilliant. She's delightful to work with, but more importantly, our work has given me the chance to hear from her clients and even their families, about how understanding and helpful she has been to their lives. I'll add as well that there are too few therapists in the L.A. area who take nature as seriously and sacredly as Maja Nuoffer does. If you are similarly environment-centered, you will find a like soul in her. And if you, as most of us do, suffer from lack of connection to nature on a daily basis, Maja is the perfect person to help you reconnect to the Earth, and yourself."

Douglas G., Colleague

"As a licensed mental health professional, I always want to know high quality colleagues to whom I can refer potential clients and with whom I can collaborate on projects. In both cases, I have had an excellent working relationship with Maja for the past seven years. She is a kind, intelligent, and hardworking therapist who is passionate about helping people connect (or, in many cases, reconnect) with nature in ways that promote healing and wholeness. I recommend her without reservation."

Quentin D., Colleague

"I have known Maja in the clinical and professional setting for 7 years. She is a great therapist, clinically sound and is one of the sweetest and most honest individuals I know. One can feel the goodness of her intention simply by talking to her. What makes her a wonderful person and therapist is her constant desire to grow and learn; always striving to improve herself so that she is better able to help others."

Monica F., Colleague

"I have known and worked with Maja for almost 10 years. Maja is passionate about her work in providing quality mental health services to adults, families and children. She is compassionate, knowledgeable and creative in her work with her clients providing them a safe place to focus on themselves and the work they need to do to get where they want to be. You won't find a more professional and caring therapist than Maja."

How should I prepare for my first session with you?

Since we'll be connecting virtually, other than finding a comfortable, private and quiet space, there is nothing to do to prepare. Take a breath and allow me to guide our session during which I'll be gathering information about who you are and what led you to today. By the end of this session, we'll have identified your goals (i.e., what you wish to accomplish, and how you will know therapy is working) and you'll have a clear idea of what to expect in our work together.

From your perspective, what is therapy?

Therapy is a weekly "pause button" on the hurriedness of your life where you learn to better understand yourself and your thoughts, feelings, behaviors and patterns, and recognize the strengths you may use to create the positive change you are seeking in your health, relationships and career.

What are your policies and practices around insurance?

For those interested in using their insurance, as an out-of-network provider, I can provide a superbill (invoice) that you may submit to your insurance. Please check with your insurance company to determine your reimbursement plan for out-of-network providers.
