Coming Back to Yourself · Day 2

What you've been carrying

Most of us aren't tired from what's on our to-do list. We're tired from everything we're doing that no one ever sees or acknowledges.

Video loads here on the live page

In today's video

  • The invisible load: what we carry that no one else can see
  • Why high-functioning people tend to over-function
  • What boundaries are, and why they matter
  • Why saying no can feel threatening, and how to work with that feeling

Reflect in your workbook

  • What am I responsible for that isn't actually mine to carry, at work, at home or in relationships?
  • Where do I over-function? Where do I step in before being asked?
  • Who relies on me the most right now? How does that feel?
  • When I think about setting one boundary, what shows up? If a close friend told me this same story, what would I say to them?

Today's practice: one tiny boundary experiment

Choose one small thing to decline, delay or renegotiate today. Pick something so small you're confident you'll do it, like letting one non-urgent message wait until tomorrow.

If you want words to use, try one of these:

  • "I want to be thoughtful about this. Can I get back to you by [time]?"
  • "I'm at capacity right now. Can we revisit this in [timeframe]?"
  • "I can do [this piece] but not [that piece]. Does that work?"
  • "I'm not able to take this on right now, but thank you so much for thinking of me."

Afterward, write about it in your workbook: what you tried, how it felt, and what you learned. If fear shows up, that means you're doing it.
