Coming Back to Yourself · Day 3

Your nervous system needs safety

If you've been trying to motivate your way out of burnout, here's why it hasn't worked, and what helps instead.

Video loads here on the live page

In today's video

  • Why burnout isn't a motivation problem, it's a safety problem
  • How your body signals overwhelm before your mind catches up
  • The difference between regulating and pushing through
  • Simple body-based practices, and why they work

Reflect in your workbook

  • What physical or emotional signals tell me I'm overwhelmed, even before I consciously realize it?
  • What soothes me reliably? (Not what should, but what actually does.)
  • What wears me down that I keep putting up with anyway? Why?
  • What calms me that is entirely within my control, with no one else required?

Today's practice, in three small parts

1. A quick daily log. Spend 5 minutes noting where you are today with sleep, food and movement. Not to judge yourself, just to notice.

2. Design a 15-minute daily reset. Using what you know soothes you, plan a 15-minute ritual you can do every day this week. Keep it so small and easy that you'll actually do it.

3. Try 5-4-3-2-1 grounding right after the video:

  • 5 things you can see
  • 4 things you can touch (and touch them)
  • 3 things you can hear
  • 2 things you can smell
  • 1 thing you can taste

Then take 10 slow breaths and notice any shift in your body.
