Questions, answered

What is DBT?

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy built around learning practical skills. It balances acceptance (meeting yourself where you are) with change (building new ways to cope), using skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and relationships.

Do you offer a full DBT program?

Our therapists offer individual therapy that uses DBT skills, sometimes called DBT-informed therapy. We don’t currently run a comprehensive DBT program with skills groups and phone coaching. If you need that level of support, email dedicated@mywellbeing.com and we’ll help you find it.

Does DBT work over video?

Yes. DBT skills can be taught and practiced over video, and many people find it easier to fit sessions into their week. Every Dedicated session is over video, for people living anywhere in New York State.

Is DBT covered by insurance?

Insurance covers therapy with a licensed, in-network therapist; it doesn’t usually depend on the approach they use. Dedicated by MyWellbeing is in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare and MVP, and most clients pay $20–$30 per session. We check your benefits before your first session. Not using insurance? Sessions range from $100–$200.

Who are Dedicated therapists?

MyWellbeing’s in-house team of licensed therapists. Each one is vetted through clinical review, case studies and background checks, and receives ongoing supervision, mentorship and training, with a focus on clinical excellence and social justice.

What if my first therapist isn’t the right fit?

Fit matters most. We’ll help you switch to another Dedicated therapist or connect you with someone outside our team. Email dedicated@mywellbeing.com and we’ll follow up within 2 business days.
